In CPD Online the Royal College of Psychiatrists has
its own accredited system, to give busy College Members and
Associates a flexible and convenient way of pursuing their
professional development. Written by expert psychiatrists and other
mental health professionals specifically for fully-trained
psychiatrists, the modules and podcasts keep subscribers up to date
with research, expand their skills and provide certificates to
confirm their completion.
I owe a great debt to
Professor Cornelius Katona, who guided the project from its first
imaginings to it becoming fully established. CPD Online
is growing, both in terms of the range and variety of topics
available for study, and the number of subscribers, with College
Members from the United Kingdom, Ireland and also further afield.
We continue to enjoy close links with the College’s other training
and CPD activities including Advances in Psychiatric
Treatment.
As the second editor, I plan to continue to
expand the resource to answer the CPD needs of subscribers with
modules that are both authoritative and lively. Such is the level
of activity I have been joined by Dr Stuart Leask in the role of
Deputy Editor.
In 2006, Time Magazine
gave its ‘Man Of the Year Award’ to the general public, in
recognition of the way people round the world had collaborated to
capitalise on the possibilities of the Internet. If you would like
to get involved, we welcome feedback on existing modules, and
suggestions for further topics, particularly from psychiatrists who
would like to write or review modules for CPD Online.
