By the end of this module we hope that you will be able to:

 

  • consider a differential diagnosis including common psychiatric disorders and physical causes of psychiatric symptoms

  • recognise key factors in the history and presentation that are diagnostic of this particular disorder

  • recognise which factors make it unlikely to be a common psychiatric disorder

  • consider how to discuss the management of such patients in a liaison psychiatry setting.
