 Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry, Whitby and
Rydale
Dr de Silva has been a consultant in
adult and old age psychiatry covering Whitby and the surrounding
North York Moors since 1998.
He has been a consultant since 1996, and
trained at the Aberdeen Medical School from 1978–1984,
with basic psychiatric training in North East Scotland. He
completed his higher training in York with experience in
neurology, hospice care and old age medicine liaison.
Dr de Silva's academic interests include the
pathophysiology of schizophrenia and senile dementia, as well as
new ways of working with primary care. Dr de Silva is also a
Cochrane collaborator.
