Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, SCPCT.
Dr Thompson became a Consultant in Child
and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1984 in the CAMHS in the New
Forest. She became a Reader in CAP in 2002 and retired in May
2007 before becoming Honorary Consultant in SCPCT and an Honorary
Reader in CAP, as well as Clinical Director of the Institute for
Disorders of Impulse and Attention (IDIA) at the University of
Southampton.
Dr Thompson's research and clinical interests have always
been in the under fives. Her particular research interests are
in pre-school ADHD and parenting and has published the results
of RCTs in this arena. Along with colleagues published therapeutic
manuals for pre-school ADHD (the New Forest Parenting Programme)
and ran training programmes for therapists. She has also
co-written a textbook on child and adolescent psychiatry for
primary care.

Paula Jenkins,
BM, MRCPsych
SpR in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the Wessex
training program.
Dr Jenkins trained at Southampton Medical
School and qualified in 2000. She worked in the local area in a
range of psychiatry SHO jobs before joining the SpR program in 2006
and is now in her final year. She is currently
working with Brighton University on a research project on
Resilience Therapy.
