This training module is timely and clinically
relevant. International interest in computer-aided therapy is
mushrooming (Ritterband et al, 2006)
and the UK has pioneered policy directives to establish cCBT in
routine care to help improve access to psychological therapies
(NICE, 2006; DoH, 2007).
Learning outcomes
By the end of this module, we hope that
you will:
- understand what cCBT is, how it works, and
its value as a further way of delivering psychological
therapies
- consider the pros and cons of cCBT compared
to therapist-delivered CBT and to self-guided help using a
book/manual
- be aware of evidence of cCBT’s clinical
and cost effectiveness
- recognise how cCBT can enhance clinical practice and be
delivered within an established healthcare system.
