Learning outcomes
By the end of this module we hope that you
will have a stronger knowledge of:
- the reasons for acute in-patient admission and setting
constructive objectives;
- the most prevalent treatment models;
- the importance of staff talking to patients and how to achieve
this;
- how to increase the psychotherapeutic content of treatment
packages;
- ways of enhancing patient self-management;
- effective staffing designation and deployment;
- best ways of structuring and providing constructive content for
the patient day;
- the acute ward psychiatrist’s role in relation to patients,
leadership and staff training.
