Learning outcomes
By the end of this module, we hope you will be
able to:
- distinguish between sexual
identity and gender identity
- appreciate the need for a
multi-assessment period to differentiate between other clinical
conditions which may present with gender-related symptoms
- list the comorbid
psychiatric diagnosis which may present in patients with gender
dysphoria
- differentiate between gender
dysphoria and the spectrum of transgenderism
- demonstrate the role of
psychological support for the patient with gender dysphoria
- detail the eligibility and
readiness criteria to ensure safe progression of patients through
the real life experience and transition to the opposite gender
- identify those patients
where psychotherapy is indicated.
