Professor Schifano is one of the very few
physicians with training and specialist qualifications in both
psychiatry and clinical pharmacology. He has made contributions to
several areas of addiction psychiatry and general psychiatry,
including stimulant drugs, mortality studies and drugs and the
internet.
He was recently awarded the ACCEA Bronze Award
(9 national points).
He is a member of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs
(ACMD)
and the Specialist (Psychiatry) Advisory Group for the European
Medicines Agency (EMA).

Dr Albanese holds a Doctorate in Medicine and
Surgery and a Postdoctorate Specialist Diploma in Psychiatry
and Psychotherapy from the University of Padova
(I). He is currently working in the Tower Hamlets Community
Rehabilitation and Recovery Team and has had two years' work
experience with different drug and alcohol teams in the
UK.
His research interests range from the psychopathological and
epistemological issues of mental disorders to the
psychopharmacological and clinical aspects of substance misuse. He
is an active collaborator in both the Psychonaut Web Mapping
and the ReDNet Research groups, and has also published work on
empathy and autism.
